According to the latest research, there are at least 100 times more applicant compare to the number of job post available, which means if the company need 5 people for a particular job post, there will be at least 500 people sending in their resume to get the interview. In the other way round, the percentage of u getting the job will be around 1%.
Fourth, there is recency bias in reviewing resumes. The positions youve held in the past five years are significantly more important than roles you had over 10 years ago. Therefore, weight your resume accordingly. For example, your list of accomplishments should be more robust for recent roles. However, I suggest fewer substantial accomplishments will beat a long list of modest wins".
The lesson here is to highlight who you are, and never focus on who you think you should be. Human resource managers will respond more readily to a resume that sounds true than one that has the language thrown in just for the sake of it.
That is why you must have a very strong and effective "objective" on your resume so that your potential employers can see what you really have to offer and if it matches up with the vision that they have for their company.
