BREAKING: Bobby Johnson Resigns

You heard it here first, an unconfirmed source is now telling me that Bobby Johnson has resigned as head coach of the Vanderbilt Commodores…

That’s right, the man who gave Vandy their first bowl win in over 50 years has resigned, this coming from an OpenDores.com source. A few statements came to mind as soon as I got the news…

First of all, this was some awful timing. Football isn’t too far away folks, and it looks like we’ll have an intern coach going into the first game of the season – that is unless VU can decided on a new coach before then (but that takes time considering they’ll have to interview a few guys for the job).

I also was curious how long he had been thinking this over. He seemed like quite a happy coach after our bowl win, but then again a 2-win season is enough to discourage anyone.

Now I want you to hear me out when I say this next thing. I loved Bobby Johnson and I think he deserves a lot of thanks from Vandy fans; while is record wasn’t perfect, he did some great things here at VU. That being said, this doesn’t have to be the worst news ever. Maybe Vandy can find a decent coach and he can build off what Bobby Johnson made. So don’t let this news bring you down.

Also, I must stress that this story is still in the report stage so nothing is 100% sure yet. Also, I want to say that opendores.com was the first website to break this — more places are getting it up now but we were first (remember, we’re talking websites not sports radio or anything like that).
